is a dream come true for busy webmasters and writers as the number of social bookmark sites that have emerged in the last few years have added a new dimension to interactive communities online and the ability to share articles and important news.
Social bookmarking software has tapped into a massive market as like minded people share articles, tips and general advice through the massive social networking sites such as Digg and Furl that offer users the ability to tag keywords based on the relevant content.
In it's most simple form, social bookmarking is a way for online surfers to share and store information that they enjoy and this can have a powerful viral effect as social bookmarking software automates the task of individually bookmarking each site and incorporates the major social bookmark networks into a streamlined process for users which increases the exposure of content.
Social bookmarking software is essential for the busy webmaster as even one good article can be shared and tagged with a relevant anchor text link keyword phrase across many networks and will often find a top 10 position at search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN as users tag the keyword phrase.
Social bookmarking online tools are now under development with additional features being added to keep up with recent developments and the big advantage that this method has is the accuracy of results as the users are defining relevant content rather than the search engines which often change their criteria.
Just check out many of the top internet blogs and you will notice that many of these high traffic content blogs offer users to facility to share the content via social bookmarking and in many cases the webmaster will also be increasing their site traffic by using social bookmarking software to spread the word and encourage others to vote for their content.
If you want to save time and increase your website traffic reaching over 350 social bookmark sites simply use our For example the permalinks of Strumpette, a well-known PR blog, start with 'http://www.strumpette.com' in the feed, but Technorati's spider was indexing the HTML from 'http://strumpette.com', seeing relative permalinks from the page, and missing the correlation between the two. Technorati has now fixed the bug, and they handle this case better, so Strumpette and others will see better indexing of their posts.

Technorati clearly wants to index blogs thoroughly. To do this, we look at both the feeds and the HTML of a blog, and pick which seems most complete.

According to Technorati, "...the best way to get your posts indexed is to provide a full content Atom feed for your blog and use the feed autodiscovery standard." Technorati also says that, "Atom is more consistent and explicit about several elements than RSS, but the key difference is that it has a way to express full-content posts - they can be indicated in Atom by using
instead of
for the posts, whereas RSS uses < description> for both."

If the feed is not full content, they correlate posts between the feed and the HTML of the main page, to see if there is more there because many sites have brief summary feeds, and full posts on the main page; some have the opposite.

For full story go here: Apologies to Strumpette

Google Loses Number 1 Position for Term 'Adsense Site' on Google.com?

Did you know that Google no longer has the # 1 on its own search engine for the term Adsense Site?

Check it out and see...

Greg

'Tag and Ping' and 'Social Bookmarking'

By Greg White

There’s quite a stir on the net today regarding the latest tactic for getting High Page Rank Backlinks. Sean Wu has executed the launch of his 'Methodology' using Tagging, Pinging and Social Bookmarking through many of the well-known internet 'gurus'.

Social bookmarking websites have become more and more popular. They are Services, that allow you to save bookmarks online and Tag/Categorize them with keywords instead of saving them as bookmarks in the favorite's list of your browser. This is especially useful when your browser based bookmarks have become unwieldy. It's also help since you can access your bookmarks from any computer where you have an internet connection.

Once you have bookmarked them, you can view them, sort them by category/keyword as well as see links from others that have been categorized like yours.

You also establish RSS feeds for each category (tag) that you 'subscribe' to. This alerts you to new links in your areas of interest. Your bookmark collection/RSS Feed becomes viewable to others who can also copy your bookmarks to their own collection. So now you can aggressively promote your RSS feed to the RSS Directories and Search engines, syndicate them and make them available to a much wider audience.

Social bookmarking sites also help you to meet other people who are interested in the same topics you are and who may also have knowledge of web resources that you don't.

On Social Bookmarking sites, you first create an account. Then you bookmark interesting and useful things in the area of your interest or expertise. By doing so you create a useful Feed. Once you've done that you intermittently, (or aggressively), add useful and interesting items, (that could use additional exposure), from your own content. Make an honest effort to contribute USEFUL information and links. This is all about sharing and exposure. Done properly, you can be as aggressive as you want to be about sharing information. You can share your blog(s), links to your informational/resource sites etc. Think about the fact that when you share links to other's resources, you're also effectively promoting their content as well.

This is a way you can aggressively and ethically promote your content and the content of others. I personally have hundreds of gigabytes of my own information and information of others, connected to my notebook. In the final analysis, it's doing me no good what-so-ever just sitting there. But by organizing it, online, I can help myself, (getting organized, getting my content exposed, etc.) and help others at the same time.

If you spice up your feed with too much sales and marketing related or self promotional stuff, people can and will easily drop their subscription to your feed. And instead of gaining good will and doing a service to the internet community you could get labeled as a spammer and suffer the consequences.

So while being aggressive is possible and acceptable, being careful to consider the best interest of the community is certainly warranted.

Balancing being ethical and providing a useful service to others with promoting your own content enables you to be as aggressive as you like. But remember, in the final analysis, others will make the decision on whether it's ethical and useful or spam.

In Nov. 2005 I began compiling a list of Social Bookmarking websites from a number of sources. You can find it here: http://www.blogmarketingtactics.com/social-bookmarking/social-bookmarking-top-links.html

I will be updating it again soon and it will contain approximately 120+ Sites.

Tag and Ping and Social Bookmarking are something ever serious internet marketer needs to have in his arsenal. This is now hype. But as I've stated above, it needs to be used responsibly. You can be as aggressive as you want to be if you're working ethically. Do the right thing, just do TONS of it.

Here are two resources availabe to help your understanding of this approach to marketing. Lisa Ann has put together an ebook called 'Tagging Secrets', you can find it here: Tagging Secrets! I've read it and it's well worth the read, and it's reasonable compared to other alternatives.

The other resource is one I've just released tonight! It's called 'Tag+Social Bookmark Links. You can find it here: Tag+Social Bookmark Links An example of what it will do is at the end of this article. It took about 15 seconds to generate the links and images. It's a desktop application not a script.

Greg White, Internet Marketer, Author, Consultant and Project Manager has been running successful web projects since 2001. His sites and blogs cover Blog Marketing Tactics, Internet Marketing Tactics and a variety of 'Niche' topics, in addition to starting and marketing profitable web project.

http://www.blogmarketingtactics.com/

Tags & During the past few years many methods that been developed to solve this predicament. While most of them would work there are those that would not make even a small impact.

One of the methods that have spawned many success stories in driving traffic into websites is viral marketing. Viral marketing makes use of the tendency of a person to share something to find informative, entertaining or amazing.

Many companies bank on this behavior to spread their products and increase the popularity of their company or their website. Viral marketing makes use of many mediums in enticing this behavior. It might be in the form of an interesting story, an addicting flash game, an amusing video and many others that may catch a person's fancy.

This ingenious form of marketing is typically low cost and is a wonderful tool for any company to utilize. The benefit greatly overshadows the cost or efforts to initialize this marketing scheme. Any website would greatly benefit that viral marketing.

Tell A Friend Script

One of the easiest methods in viral marketing is using a tell a friend script. This is a simple programming script that you can attach to the programming of your website. Generally, tell a friends script are installed in pages where a media is placed so that a person can easily send the media to any of his friends or his family members.

The basic concept of a tell a friend script is a script wherein a person may input his name, e-mail address, the recipient's e-mail address and send the media to the intended recipient much like an e-mail with an attachment. As the recipient receives the e-mail he wouldn't think of the mail a spam mail because he would see the sender's name as someone he or she knows and trust.

Tell a friend script eliminates greatly the chances of being blocked because they use the information inputted by the sender. This allows for wider spreading of this marketing method. It can be quite sneaky but it is very effective.

With the e-mail sent and opened the sent media will either be read, viewed or played. Also along with the mail would be a brief description of the company or site that sponsors the media sent. This allows for the introduction of either the site, company name or its products. The along with it is another tell a friend script.

Then the process begins again. As more people use the tell a friend script, more and more people will know of the existence of the sponsoring company or site. People who read the ads inside the mail who liked what they see would go and click on the link and visit the site. This drives traffic into the site resulting to great number of potential customers.

Tell A Friend Script Availability

A tell a friend script is very simple and does not require a complicated method of programming. SEO forums and newsgroups can be very confusing to a person with no SEO experience. These forums and newsgroups are just so heavily populated that they can intimidate many new users.

The first rule regarding these situations is to just slowly try to integrate yourself into the community. Follow these rules closely and concisely so that you do not offend anybody:

1. Do not spam the forum with your problems. If you have a few things that you would like to discuss you will probably get help, but do not try to hog all of the assistance for yourself. For one thing, most of your questions have already been answered, believe it or not. There is generally a 'search' option. Always use this before posting your problem.

2. Do not 'Flame.' Flaming is a term used among forum dwellers to describe the behavior of 'yelling' at people via the forum. This is generally associated with cursing, constant argument, typing in all caps to try to convey anger, and dismissing other people's posts in an undignified fashion. There are other problems that are included in flaming, but I have given you the jist of it.

3. Never take a post off topic. If there is something that you would like to discuss that was inspired by a post on another topic, post a new topic in the appropriate board and explain where the topic was conceived. You may still want to reply to the post just to let people know that the topic has been created so that somebody else doesn't take it off topic.

4. Do not 'bump' your thread (or post). Bumping a post is when you reply to your own post in hopes of getting a response sooner. The only time that this is acceptable is if your thread has laid dormant for about a week. Bumped threads are very annoying to most forum users. Bumping posts on a regular basis will probably lead to a lack of interest in your posts and will probably contribute to a lack of support in your ventures.

6. Be friendly. There is no reason that you can't be completely polite when posting on a forum. You will get very good response if you are simply polite in your post. Politeness in the world of forums includes making sure that you have communicated your problem carefully so that people attempting to help you can understand and provide answers to the best of their abilities.

7. Join in on the community favorites. Many forums now include 'games' which are occasionally pretty fun. They are pretty much just there for if you are bored and waiting for a response to your other posts, but they are enjoyable if you keep up with them as many forum dwellers are quite articulate and witty.

Here's a list of resources that you can use when you need help but you don't want to pay for it.

Finding Groups.

Google makes discussion groups easy to find with their '˜Google Groups' tool (groups.google.com). Go there and type in '˜seo' to see what's on offer. Two popular groups are alt.internet.search-engines and alt.www.webmaster. If you don't like Google's groups, try Yahoo's instead (groups.yahoo.com). Either of these sources will provide you with a pretty substantial list. Remember, regular search engine listings seem to apply here so generally you will see the best results towards the top of the listing.

dmoz.org is a good place to start: from their home page, you can browse down to any subject you want, and you should find at least one mailing list, discussion forum or message board in the listing.

There are several forums out there on the web that focus on SEO, and you can learn a lot from all of them, even if some of the discussions are over your head at first. Even ordinary searchers can learn a lot from following these discussions, as they tell you a lot about how search engines work.

Here are some useful forums: WebmasterWorld, Search Engine Watch Forums, ThreadWatch, Best Practices Search Engine Forums, cre8asite forums and the High Rankings Forum. Check them out.

5 New Trends To Increase Your Website Exposure

It's not your Grandad's same old Internet anymore. When it comes to Internet Marketing, there are new ways to promote your website that'll benefit you by adding extra cash in your pocket. Read about the five new methods of Internet marketing that people are using to drive customers to their website. The basic concept that “content is king” along with correct keyword usage is the way to go. You will not regret using these new ways of marketing.

The number one Internet marketing plan for drawing customers into your website is the use of a blog. A blog is a continual updated online journal on your personal views or news related subject matters. People that read your blog are constantly aware of your ideas and thoughts, especially those concerning your business and products. The benefit of promoting your company through a blog is the fact that the search engines love blogs. Fresh new content and a few good keywords thrown in will push you higher up on the engine rankings. People will see it and more customers will click to your site.

In your blog, be sure to add valuable customer information such as product information, or business advice. This draws customer interest. In addition, other bloggers may wish to link with to your blog site, and you can draw in customers from their blogs. That will continually feed your ranking and over time; customer loyalty backed by trust will drive your website and feed new customers into your email. However, without RSS feeds, Really Simple Syndication, your blog may be doomed to fail. RSS feeds work by aggregating the information and outlay it to the customer. The customer will need to have a web browser or special software that can read RSS feeds. Most any information is fed into an RSS feed. The good thing about using a web blog with a RSS Feed is that often your information gets to the news media. A well-written blog with timely advice and resources lends you as creditable in your business area. Be prepared, you could have a reporter knocking at your door.

Another area in which you can spice up your website is with the use of PHP coding. One of the drawbacks to using an RSS feed is that because it is a dynamic page – the spiders will not catch it quick. For example, if it has to wait too long to index it with the code intact, it will just move on. There are things you can do to work with the PHP language, and it will benefit you to learn how to do it. At least with the PHP, you can make your pages on the site look like HTML files. Do not forget to use the idea of text links too. Links to other great sites is a new advertising trend you can use for more website exposure. With SEO, Search Engine Optimization, companies use text link marketing to get their site into the higher rankings. You can use auctions where you bid only on what you think you need, or through a brokerage, you can buy and sell text links. Just like with banners you can change exchange links too.

Bookmark technology and ways to use them has come a long way. Most agree that getting someone to bookmark your site will lead to future sales. People rarely ask for a customer bookmark their site though. There are software programs that you can use to make book marking a snap. All you have to do is to provide a link and your customers can bookmark easily. Some Java script software will automatically bookmark your site for your customer. There is a small fee involved for you. A simple “Please bookmark this site” button is often enough to get the customer to bookmark. Certain software will also add a special icon when the customer saves the site. This makes it easy to standout from the other bookmarked sites. Pop-ups help you to get your customer to bookmark too. New ingenuous software will remind your customer to bookmark as they are leaving, and even to bookmark with their permission.

The Internet is a dynamic marketing experience. In addition, the better you are at implementing its new marketing tools – the more profits you will make. So learn all you can about these five tips on new marketing trends and go grab some lifetime customers.

How To Increase Traffic To Your Blog Using Blog Commenting

Effective use of Blog Commenting can bring you good quality targeted traffic. But abusing this approach can quickly ruin your reputation. So be very careful!

Blog Commenting can be a labor intensive technique but you can trim down the time it takes to use it effectively by working smart. And the time you invest will be well spent when you begin to see interactions taking place with other bloggers and as traffic gets driven to your blog.

Our objective is to generate Traffic, instead of just links, so the fact that many blogs now use the "NOFOLLOW" tag to prevent the benefits of link popularity doesn't matter..

You can use Google's own search engine on Blogger.com to find an appropriate blog to comment on. Go to http://search.blogger.com/advanced_blog_search to find blogs that have a similar theme or topic to yours, or who have posted on a similar topic to which you are currently posting.

For example, since I'm writing this article on 'Blog Commenting', I could type in "Blog Commenting" in the text box labeled "with these words in the title". Click 'Search Blogs' and you'll see a variety of links returned. Some of the titles are:

Blog Commenting Etiquette
blog commenting
Ninja blog commenting
Blog Commenting protocol
Great moments in blog commenting

There's probably as many ideas and opinions about blog commenting as there are blog comments out there.
And many blogs permit you to post, but a number of people have become fed up with people who use blogs as a vehicle for comment spam, and so have disabled this capability. Even so, one thing is for certain, according to Denise in the Blog Commenting Etiquette post, "Commenting is an essential activity for successful blogging and driving traffic to your own blog. Knowing how to do it "correctly", with respect and professionalism is critical to the success of your blog."

I agree. Feel free to ask relevant questions or make relevant comments. You can also feel free to challenge the blogger's post if necessary because bloggers like feedback and interaction! But be sure to be courteous and contribute something new to the discussion, and generally ad value. In this way, your posts are going to be welcomed.

FREE SPYWARE-FREE Desktop Tool

Jim Morris at NicheBot just told me about an new freebie deal that I thought you'd want to know about. A chapter is available for you to read here: http://blogmarketingbook.com/.

Paul Chaney over at: AllBusiness says it is a 'Must Read Book'. They allow you to save bookmarks online and
Tag/Categorize them with keywords instead of saving them
as bookmarks in the favorite's list of your browser.
This is particularly useful when your browser based
bookmarks have become unwieldy. It's also help since
you can access your bookmarks from any computer where
you have an internet connection.

I have compiled a list of Social Bookmarking websites from
a number of sources. You can find it here:
http://www.blogmarketingtactics.com/social-bookmarking/social-bookmarking-top-links.html

Once you have bookmarked them, you can view them, sort
them by category/keyword as well as see links from others
that have been categorized like yours.

You also establish RSS feeds for each category (tag) that you
'subscribe' to. This alerts you to new links in your areas of
interest. Your bookmark collection/RSS Feed becomes
viewable to others who can also copy your bookmarks to their
own collection. So now you can aggressively promote your
RSS feed to the RSS Directories and Search engines,
syndicate them and make them available to a much wider
audience.

Social bookmarking sites also help you to meet other people
who are interested in the same topics you are and who may
also have knowledge of web resources that you don't.

On Social Bookmarking sites, you first create an account.
Then you bookmark interesting and useful things in the area
of your interest or expertise. By doing so you create a
useful Feed. Once you've done that you intermittently,
(or aggressively), add useful and interesting items, (that
could use additional exposure), from your own content.
Make an honest effort to contribute USEFUL information
and links. This is all about sharing and exposure. Done
properly, you can be as aggressive as you want to be about
sharing information. You can share your blog(s), links to
your informational/resource sites etc. Think about the fact
that when you share links to other's resources, you're also
effectively promoting their content as well.

This is a way you can aggressively and ethically promote
your content and the content of others. I personally
have hundreds of gigabytes of my own information and
information of others, connected to my notebook. In the
final analysis, it's doing me no good what-so-ever just
sitting there. But by organizing it, online, I can help
myself, (getting organized, getting my content exposed,
etc.) and help others at the same time.

If you spice up your feed with too much sales and
marketing related or self promotional stuff, people
can and will easily drop their subscription to your feed.
And instead of gaining good will and doing a service
to the internet community you could get labeled as a
spammer and suffer the consequences.

So while being aggressive is possible and acceptable,
being careful to consider the best interest of the
community is certainly warranted.

Balancing being ethical and providing a useful service
to others with promoting your own content enables you
to be as aggressive as you like. But remember, in the
final analysis, others will make the decision on whether
it's ethical and useful or spam.

Greg White, Internet Marketer, Author, Consultant and Project Manager has been running successful web projects since 2001. So what is 'TrackBack Link'? A Trackback Link is a link that sends a message from one server to another letting it know that you've posted a reference to a post on it. What's cool about this is that you now have a link to your blog on the blog that you referenced. Cool, useful and respectful. Don't overdo it.

How to Get Your Blog Talked About on other Blogs

To get your blog talked about on other blogs, create some content that would be interesting to other bloggers. Bloggers as a group have a relatively consistent set of interests. They care about entertainment (films, books), gadgets (iPods, TiVos, etc.), computers and the web – basically, imagine things that a slightly nerdy person with lots of free time would care about, and you've pretty much got it. If you need any further inspiration, take a look at the links from the front page of a site like www.slashdot.org or www.kottke.org.

Choose your subject, then write something controversial or amusing about it.

For example, if you've heard that Apple is releasing a new iPod the size of a fingernail, that's new. Note that you can do perfectly well guessing at new things, as long as it sounds plausible and you're good at predicting: you can often write an article announcing the obvious next step for a company with popular products and get linked from all over the place.

When it comes to amusing, you might try some kind of spoof along the lines of 'popular nerdy film/book in the style of nerdy thing'. For example, you might do a version Lord of the Rings as though it were being acted out in an IRC chat, or recreate the storyline of the Star Wars Trilogy with Lego (warning: both of these have already been done).

Controversy is the most fun thing to create, but it's not easy. You have to attack one of the bloggers' 'sacred cows', the things that they almost all seem to agree on. The best example of this is a guy who wrote an article called 'Why Your Movable Type Blog Must Die', criticising the software that most bloggers ran their blogs on at the time. It was linked from literally thousands of blogs, and received an enormous amount of traffic – if you want to find it, it's still ranked amazingly highly if you search for 'movable type'.

It's better to put forward controversial views that you genuinely hold and stick to producing amusing things that you genuinely find amusing, otherwise your insincerity will no doubt show in what you produce, and no-one will like it enough to link to it. What I'm saying, rather, is that you have to be in tune with the blogosphere's likes, dislikes, interests and obsessions, and write about things it cares about.

Once you've written something, here are a few ways you can get it out there.

1. Submit it to a blog or two, saying that you found this thing you thought they might like.
2. Link to a few related entries on other blogs, as this will create a 'trackback', automatically creating a link from their entry to yours.
3. Here's a real gem: Submit your blog to http://www.pingoat.com/
- Pingoat will ping over fifty blog ping services all at once. So you don't
have to hunt for ping services and manually ping them. Pingoat pings over fifty
blog ping servers (growing) with just one click.

4. This will get your blog
included in Yahoo very quickly. This is worth the effort to stop what you're
doing right and do it, since Yahoo has a PR 9.

8. Use this code: "http://add.my.yahoo.com/content?url=http://www.yourblog.com/urblog.xml"
in your blog to allow others to put your feed on their own "My Yahoo" account.

9. This will get your blog included
in MSN very quickly. This is also invaluable because MSN has a PR 8.

10. Use this code: "http://my.msn.com/addtomymsn.armx?id=rss&ut=http://www.urblogfeedaddress.com/urblog.xml"
in your blog to allow others to put your feed on their own "My MSN" account.

11. Place the link and description of your blog in your signature, so that any
posts to Forums, Outgoing Emails, Autoresponder Courses, etc, will promote your
blog.

12. Post a link and description of your blog on each of your sites.

13. Place your blog on all the major search engines.

AddMe.com will submit your blog free to the top 14 Search engines here: http://www.addme.com/submission.htm

SubmitExpress.com will submit your blog free to the top 20 Search engines here:
http://www.submitexpress.com/

14. Use Article Directories as a resource for articles to post on your blog.
Here are a few:
http://ezinearticles.com/
http://goarticles.com/
http://www.knowledge-finder.com/
http://www.informit.com/articles/

15. Locate blogs with a lot of traffic and place useful comments in their
comment box. Be sure the blog and your comments are relavent to both your blog
and theirs. Senseless posts won't help you, they'll hurt you.

16. Once you get around 5 to 10 posts on your blog, start a PR campaign and
announce it to all relevant channels.

17. Make a blog post as often as possible. More than once a day is not really
necessary. Remember, if you can't write that much, go to step # 14.

Greg White, Internet Marketer, Author, Consultant and Project Manager has been
running successful web projects since 2001. I can get my site indexed now. What’s the big deal?” The big deal is that blogging and pinging gets your site indexed almost immediately AND it is FREE!!!

If you have any experience trying to get a site indexed and listed in the major search engines, then you know that it is frustrating and very difficult to get done in a reasonable amount of time. After working hard to get your site together, collecting and writing content, worrying about keywords and keyword densities, you are not even close to finished. Now comes the even harder part! Now you have to submit, by hand, your site to all the major search engines. And finally, you get to wait.

That’s right, you have to wait for the spiders to come index your site. This could take weeks or this could take months. There are some methods that will help bring along the spiders a bit faster, but these take lots of time and effort and money. And still, you can’t be sure that the spiders will come fast enough.

Blogging and pinging solves this problem. You can guarantee that spiders will come to your site and that you will get listed in all the major search engines with minimal effort and no money – in about 48 hours!!!

How does it work? The largest search engine, Google, owns Blogger.com. This is the site we will use to help you create your blogs. Google sends their search engine spiders through Blogger.com to find new content.

When you blog the content on your site – an extremely easy process described in Chapter 5 – the URL of the page you are blogging is automatically attached. That way, when Google’s spiders come along, they “see” the URL. If that URL isn’t listed in the Google database, the spiders “run right over” to the URL and check it out!

Imagine that the URL found on the blog is YOUR site! Rather than wait for weeks, months, or even up to a year, you can get YOUR site listed immediately! Google themselves will tell you that they would rather “discover” new URL’s by finding links than get them via submission. So, why not blog and ping and give them what they want!!

Another good piece of news is that once Google has your site, other search engines that use Google’s feed will put you on their site, too. And it all happens at lightening speed!

Another technique you will learn here is how to get Yahoo to send their news spiders your way. Just like Google, Yahoo is looking for fresh content. And once they pick up your site, so will others.

Finally, I will show you how to ping other services like Technorati and blo.gs. So why would you want to be on these sites? One word: traffic. Services like Technorati spider your links in real time. If you show up on someone’s Technorati link list for their site they’re likely to visit your site to see what you said, increasing your exposure.

Blogging and Pinging

So What Is Blogging and Pinging???

There is a new duo in town called Blogging and Pinging. It is not a new comedy team or even a singing group, but a new way to attract visitors to your website and make more money. Blogging and Pinging is a marketing tool that can make anyone a viable website owner.

Let’s start with a definition of a blog.

A Blog is what you're reading here. Blog is an abbreviation for weblog. A weblog is a journal that is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. Blogs generally represent the personality of the author or the Web site.

Ok, so what about pinging? Originally, a ping was a program that bounced a request off of another computer/server over a network or the Internet to see if the remote computer was responding. That same program is now used as a method of informing others that your blog exists and also let’s them know when a new post has been made.

When you put the two together – blogging and pinging – you get a technique that is extremely effective at getting ANY web site, no matter how big or small, indexed by the major search engines.
